Farm Le Bunker’s new, modern and functional checkout counter by Armoires Orléans
Armoires Orléans tackled an exciting commercial project by designing and building an updated checkout counter at Le Bunker, a family-run farm on Île d'Orléans (Quebec).

The aim was to create a functional space that would blend harmoniously into the farmhouse’s new layout following its conversion into a sales area. The project’s centrepiece is a black counter with stunning curves and a sleek, modern look.
To pull off a successful project, the team at Armoires Orléans needed to source the perfect material to meet every specification. Not only did the counter need to deliver on aesthetics, it also had to be durable, highly scratch resistant, and flexible enough to be curved without compromising the integrity of the product. After many tests and trials, FENIX® innovative materials proved to be the perfect solution.
“FENIX® material ticked all the boxes on our list while meeting our functional expectations and delivering a counter that looks fabulous and will be durable. The product also offered a smooth and flexible installation, which we greatly appreciated,” says Geneviève Larouche, Sales Manager at Armoires Orléans.
The intense black of Nero Ingo (J0720) makes the checkout counter look elegant and modern. FENIX® materials were selected not only for their refined matte appearance, but also for their resistance to wear and scratches. FENIX® surfaces are highly resistant, with thermal repair of micro-scratches possible. As such, they are ideal for a sales environment where surfaces are regularly subjected to wear and tear.

Flexibility That Lends Itself to Interior Design
One of the major challenges of this project was creating a curved countertop, which meant finding a flexible material. The technology behind FENIX® materials not only yields a flawless look, but can also be applied to flexible plywood, making the design of curved elements possible without deformation. This aspect was a decisive factor in the choice of materials, since it allowed for a neat and aesthetic finish along the entire length of the counter.
The Wide Planked Walnut (9479-NG) design, part of Formica Group's 180fx® collection, was used for the countertop itself and pairs perfectly with the Nero Ingo FENIX® surfaces. Used together, these materials created a refined overall look that adds a modern touch to the renovated farmhouse.
This Armoires Orléans project stands as an excellent example of how the use of innovative materials can transform traditional spaces by creating modern and practical areas that are both stylish and efficient.
